Why Is the NCLEX® Changing?

Why is the NCSBN Changing the NCLEX®?

The NCSBN (National Council State Boards of Nursing) creates and administers the N CLEX® and are, therefore, responsible for determining safe practice of new nurses.

One study found that 50% of new nurses were involved in practice errors, so the NCSBN planned for these changes that were implemented in April 2023 starting back in 2012 to better measure clinical judgement and better gauge new nurse readiness for practice.

So, while changes are scary, these new questions types were created and will be implemented to improve student ability to gauge readiness to work on the hospital floor.

Who doesn't want safe nurses out in the field? ❤
